9060XT Custom Shroud

Repairing a PowerColor Reaper RX 9060 XT 16GB with a custom printed shroud and Noctua fans. The repair came first; lower reported temperatures were a bonus.

I Fixed My RX 9060 XT With a 3D Printer

Build Guide

Build overview and fit notes for this repair.

Prerequisites

  • PowerColor Reaper RX 9060 XT 16GB
  • FreeCAD for the replacement design
  • PETG HS filament used in this build
  • Noctua NF-A9 PWM chromax fans, 92 × 25 mm

Repair the broken shroud

The replacement was designed in FreeCAD around this card and the 25 mm thick fans, then printed in PETG HS. Confirm the exact card and fan dimensions before adapting the design.

Check fit before running the card

With power off, check that the shroud is secure, fan blades turn freely, and cables stay clear of the fans and hot components. Confirm clearance inside your case. If adapting fan wiring, verify connector pinout and polarity with power off.

Monitor the repair under load

Check fan operation and monitor GPU and hotspot temperatures in your own system. Inspect the printed part for movement or deformation after heat exposure; filament choice does not replace those checks.

Results

  • Scott-reported readings from this build: GPU 83 → 79 °C; hotspot 93 → 89 °C.
  • Both readings decreased by 4 °C. Ambient temperature, workload, RPM, and noise controls were not documented, so these are build observations rather than a controlled comparison or a promised improvement.

Build Notes

The original shroud on my PowerColor Reaper RX 9060 XT 16GB was broken. I designed a replacement in FreeCAD and printed it in PETG HS to put the card back into service.

The replacement uses Noctua NF-A9 PWM chromax fans, measuring 92 × 25 mm. This page documents that specific card and fan combination; it is not a universal RX 9060 XT fit claim.

The goal was to repair the broken shroud. My reported readings also dropped by 4 °C for both GPU temperature and hotspot temperature, which was a welcome bonus.
